What isn’t covered?
Fetch puppy insurance provides coverage for future accidents and illnesses — the stuff you can’t see coming. We don’t cover pre-existing conditions. No one does. We also don’t cover cosmetic or elective procedures like tail docking and ear cropping (unless your vet decides they’re medically necessary). Routine and preventive care, which cover things like spaying and neutering, teeth cleaning, flea and tick protection and vaccines, aren’t covered either.
When should I get pet insurance for my puppy?
The sooner you get Fetch, the sooner we can help. If you have a puppy, you shouldn’t wait to sign up. And the same goes if you’ve adopted an older dog, too — it’s likely an older pet will develop a new illness or injury as they continue to age. But, if you wait until your pet gets sick or hurt, we won’t be able to cover your vet visit.

How Fetch works.
Pay your vet as usual.
Fetch works on a reimbursement model: you pay your veterinarian, then we pay you back. You can use any vet in the U.S. or Canada, specialists and emergency clinics included.
Use our app to file a claim.
The Fetch by The Dodo app makes it fast and easy to file claims. Just scan and upload an invoice and your pet’s medical records, and we’ll take it from there.
The sooner you enroll your pet the more we can cover. Fetch will be there for future accidents and illnesses your pet may face, but like other providers we’re unable to cover pre-existing conditions.
How much does puppy insurance cost?
Our plans average $35/month for dogs and even lower prices for puppies. How do we do it? Using the same data points that power our patent-pending tool, Fetch Forward™, we determine the most accurate pricing based on your pet’s breed, age and your location. From there, you’ve got options. Here are the levers you can pull to either pay less or get paid back more.

What does puppy insurance cover?
Puppy insurance helps you cover the cost of unexpected veterinary bills if your pet gets sick or hurt. Fetch provides the most comprehensive coverage for your pup and pays back up to 90% of your vet bills. That means we offer the best coverage including sick-visit exams fees, breed-specific issues, and teeth and gums.
What is a deductible?
If your puppy receives veterinary care, the first thing you need to do is submit a claim. Once your claim is approved, the initial amount will go towards the annual deductible that you’ve selected (either $500, $300 or $250). We’ll start reimbursing your claims after your deductible is met.
How do I get pet insurance for my puppy?
Enrolling is easy with Fetch. All you need to do is answer a couple of questions about your pup and you’ll get a free quote that’s personalized to them. Once you sign up, there’s a 15-day waiting period before injuries and illnesses are covered. (Don’t worry, we’ll email you everything you need to know.) After the waiting period is over, you’re free to begin submitting claims.
When should I get puppy insurance?
The key to ensuring your pup has the best coverage possible is to enroll before they need it. Like other providers, Fetch is unable to cover pre-existing conditions. That’s why we recommend signing up when your dog is a puppy so that any future illnesses or injuries will be covered. Fetch covers pets of any age, so it’s important to sign up an older dog before they develop any health issues.
How do I pick the best plan?
Fetch offers the most comprehensive coverage in our one simple plan. There are a few factors you can customize to make sure your price fits your budget: your deductible, annual coverage amount and reimbursement rate. See how to customize your price to find the value that is right for you.
