Fetch covers behavioral therapy. Nationwide doesn’t.

  • Fetch gives you 100% reimbursement for consultations with a vet to diagnose and treat behavioral disorders. Behavioral therapy is often recommended by a vet to treat your pet if they’re diagnosed with aggression, separation anxiety or a phobia. You’re covered up to $1,000/yr. with $0 copay and $0 deductible.

  • Nationwide doesn’t cover behavioral therapy at all.

Over 95%

of dogs and 75% of cats get behavioral problems.

Full-mouth dental coverage comes standard with Fetch. Nationwide doesn’t have complete dental coverage.

  • Fetch’s complete dental coverage includes injury and disease in every adult tooth, not just the canines. Plus, you get full coverage for periodontal disease (the most common disease in dogs and cats), oral tumors, trauma and more.

  • Nationwide won’t cover your pet’s dental illness if they have tartar before enrollment or during the waiting period. With Fetch, tartar is not considered a pre-existing condition for dental illness.

With Fetch, you get 100% reimbursement on hundreds of qualifying pet meds with Fetch Pet Rx

  • Your pet’s medications are delivered to your door and are eligible for 100% reimbursement through our online pharmacy, Fetch Pet Rx. Reimbursement begins once you’ve met your deductible.

  • Nationwide doesn’t offer this. Fetch is the only pet insurance provider that pays you back 100% of the cost of your pet’s meds when you use Fetch Pet Rx.

Over 74%

of pet parents report that their pet’s prescription cost is burdensome.

Nationwide doesn’t cover all breed-specific conditions. Fetch does.

  • Fetch covers hereditary conditions linked to breed, like breathing problems in French Bulldogs or hip dysplasia in German Shepherds.

  • Nationwide only covers some breed-specific conditions and doesn’t cover congenital conditions at all.

Fetch reimburses 100% for online vet visits with the freedom to use any telehealth provider

  • Fetch covers telehealth treatment, so you can call, text, email or video chat with any televet provider of your choosing — there are no networks. Online vet visits are covered up to $1,000 a year.

  • Nationwide only covers telehealth if you use their helpline app. Online visits with other televet providers will not be covered.

Fetch covers pets of all ages. Nationwide excludes older pets from enrolling in illness coverage.

  • Fetch insures all pets 6 weeks and older with no upper age limits.

  • Nationwide only offers limited coverage for pets that are enrolled at age 8 and older. These pets can only be covered for accidents, not illnesses.

Why Nationwide pet insurance dropped 100,000 pets from coverage

Nationwide made headlines in 2024 with the announcement that they were dropping about 100,000 pet insurance policies. This left tens of thousands of pet parents stranded with no coverage. In a statement, Nationwide said, "Inflation in the cost of veterinary care and other factors have led to recent underwriting changes and the withdrawal of some products in some states — difficult actions that are necessary to ensure a financially sustainable future for our pet insurance line of business.”

Nationwide’s prioritization of profitability over the well-being of dogs and cats left those pet parents with no good options. Here’s why: When you switch pet insurance providers, pre-existing conditions aren’t covered. This means any medical conditions these pets previously had coverage for with Nationwide would likely not be covered with a new provider.

Nationwide is not exclusively focused on pet insurance. Helping you give your dog and cat a longer, healthier life is the focus of everything we do at Fetch. Unlike Nationwide, Fetch has never dropped pets from coverage. Fetch may change your premiums or coverage configuration at renewal; however, we’ve publicly stated that we don't cancel policies based on claims history. With Fetch, you can rest easy knowing you’ll have the most complete pet insurance.

Fetch has more options for Wellness coverage than Nationwide

Wellness coverage reimburses you for preventive care like annual exams, vaccinations and dental cleanings. When you add Fetch Wellness, you’ll get money back for the vet visits that help keep your pet healthy (think: annual exams, vaccinations, dental cleanings and more). With coverage for both unexpected vet visits and preventive care, you’ll have the full package for your pet’s happiest, healthiest life.

Both Fetch and Nationwide offer preventive coverage as an optional add-on to your pet insurance plan, but Fetch has more flexibility than Nationwide. With Fetch, you can choose between 3 different plans to find what works best for your pet and your budget. Nationwide only has 2 wellness options.
