The team behind the gold: all about Chloe Kim’s pets

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina will kick off in a few weeks, and snowboarding sensation Chloe Kim is back in the spotlight. Chasing a historic three-peat win in the women’s halfpipe, Chloe is balancing a rigorous training schedule and spending time with loved ones. That includes an electric trio of pets: her dog Reese, horse Momo and Jelly Bean the snake. Let’s dive into everything there is to know about Chloe Kim’s pets.

Reese: the pup who started it all

The most famous member of the pack is undoubtedly Chloe’s dog, Reese. A Miniature Australian Shepherd born in September 2016, Reese entered Chloe’s life during a pivotal moment. Chloe has been candid about getting Reese at a time when she was at an “all-time low” and needed a boost. "I feel like I was kind of at a low in my life and I really needed a buddy," she shared. "So I got Reese and she's been my bestie ever since."

Reese is more than just a pet; she’s a high-energy partner in crime. Whether they are hitting the beach or the gym, Reese is usually right by Chloe’s side. “Seeing her happy makes me so happy, and I think it's that boost of serotonin that I need on a daily basis,” Chloe noted. The bond is so strong that Chloe admits her performance on the mountain is often tied to her pup, saying: "I feel like I always do better at contests when she's there."

Reese isn’t just Chloe’s lucky charm; she’s also a star in her own right. Not only does Reese have her own Instagram page, but she also shared the cover of Sports Illustrated with Chloe after she won gold at the 2018 Olympics. Talk about a pair of winners!

Life at home with a mini aussie

Anyone who has met an Australian Shepherd knows they're a whirlwind of energy, and Reese is no exception. To keep her entertained, Chloe even introduced an automatic ball thrower to their routine. "These Australian shepherds have unlimited energy," Chloe said. “It's important for her to get out there and just play for hours if she can."

Beyond the backyard, Reese is a seasoned traveler. The duo frequently takes road trips where Reese helps Chloe stay grounded. "She just [has] to go to the bathroom every few hours, so we have to stop, and it's nice because I feel like if I didn't have her, I would just keep going" Chloe explained. "It's those moments where I feel like I can be super present when I'm with her and make a lot of memories.”

Momo & Jelly Bean: the rest of the crew

While Reese often steals the spotlight, Chloe’s love for animals doesn't stop at dogs; she has built a diverse family that includes a horse and even a snake.

Momo the Horse

In 2022, Chloe added Momo to her family, "the most gentle, goofiest horse I’ve ever met." An Arabian chestnut, Momo represents a different kind of connection. Chloe shared that when she first got Momo, she would ride him most days. While Chloe has stepped back from riding recently to avoid any “unpredictable” injuries before the 2026 Games, Momo remains a big part of her world.

Jelly Bean the Snake

Perhaps the most unexpected addition is Chloe’s snake, a ball python named Jelly Bean. Chloe hadn't planned on becoming a reptile parent, but a chance encounter changed her mind. "I never thought I'd get a snake," she admitted. "But I felt little Jelly Bean, and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I feel this connection with this snake.’ Which is like the craziest thing ever."

A champion’s perspective

Whether she is being followed from room to room by Reese during a stressful day or checking in on Jelly Bean, Chloe’s animals provide a sanctuary away from the pressure of Olympic expectations. As she gears up for Milano Cortina, she’s doing it with a full heart and a busy house.
