Award-winning actress and singer Cynthia Erivo is a powerhouse of talent — just check out her resume of gigs ranging from Broadway to the big screen (most recently in Wicked: For Good.) But when she’s not busy defying gravity or preparing for her next role, there are two furry friends waiting at home: her beloved dogs, Caleb and Gigi. We’ve got the full scoop on these two adorable companions — as it turns out, Cynthia’s devotion to her pups is just as big as her voice!
The first of Cynthia Erivo’s dogs is Caleb, a sweet Maltipoo (a cross between a Maltese and a Poodle). Cynthia met Caleb as puppy in 2018, and it was love at first sight. She said, “He was the sweetest, sweetest little thing — playful and quiet, but still wanted to be close to me. When I picked him up, he fell asleep, and I fell in love. He’s been wonderful. When you’re traveling a lot, and when you’re on set, and you’re by yourself a lot, it just helps to have a being that is only really made of love.” Soon after, she introduced Caleb to the world on social media, and has been sharing snaps of him on sets and in dressing rooms ever since — including behind the scenes of the Wicked movies! He's been described as a bit more reserved and independent than his younger sister, enjoying a little space but always making sure his human is within view. He travels with her from red carpet events to film festivals, proving to be the perfect companion for life on the go.

After Caleb had a few years to enjoy his solo-dog status, Cynthia decided it was time to get him a sibling. Enter Gigi, a lively Yorkipoo (a Yorkshire Terrier and Poodle mix) who joined the family as a playful puppy. Cynthia introduced Gigi to the world in 2021, noting that her name is short for (Judy) Garland.
Unlike her brother, Gigi is all about getting up close and personal. Cyntha said, “[Gigi] was adorable and silly and playful, and still is. . . the total opposite of Caleb. Caleb needs to be in view, but he can be at some distance if he wants to be, but Gigi just wants to be right next to you all the time. They’re both really, really sweet beings who have changed my life for the better. There’s something about how they sense when I’ve gone through a rough time, they’ve been right there. They come up to you and they lean and they love you, and that’s that. They’re special, special beings.”
